I was wondering how many of you take a more "magickal" approach to vampirism. If any of you have read up on some of Crowley's ideas and workings on vampirism?

Also, what do you think about the uproar from early occultists about the ethics of vampirism and magick?

I've made it pretty clear that my approach to vampirism is laced a lot with my magick path. I also take a look at psychic vampirism and where it lies within the whole psychology of magick. How it plays with the psyche and as a result how we can take advantage of that...

I would like like to see if there are others that have the same curious ideas about vampirism and occult science.

I can say I believe in the energetic aspect of this. I find it interesting how others have the ability to just clear out everyone's energy if they found them selves in a room full of "victims".

Anyone here can shed some light on this?

I do work with magick in various forms and am currently researching the parallels between the idea of the Vampire as immortal and the ultimate goal of the left hand path, which is godhood. I see many similarities in this.

I recall the article you posted about Crowley on the Ning site which absolutely fascinated me. I hadn't heard anything previously concerning him in relation to vampirism.

It would be interesting to see what sorts of references are hidden within Crowley's works.

I believe many early occultists, Fortune specifically, veiwed the vampire as some sort of leech that constantly attacks and feeds from it's victims. While this can be true in some senses, I don't believe she had a very realistic view of the vampire outside what she may have read in popular fiction of that time.

Crowley's idea on vampirism wasn't too popular with other occultist. But again, he always "went his own way' so to speak. In some cases, anyway.

As far as the immortal aspect, are you talking about spiritual alchemy? That very subject is what set me on the path of ceremonial work.

I would love to continue a discussion on this...

Devilsenemy... it's not a matter of someone wiping out another's energy. Take the time to read this article: http://www.llewellynjournal.com/article/513

I should note there is one thing I do disagree with: that psychic vampires lack energy so they must feed. This is where my workings with Ceremonial magick and even witchcraft have countered this. It is very possible to "build" your own energy and this be sufficient enough not to feed off anyone. Perhaps I should write up an article of my own experiences on this.

Yes, spiritual alchemy is a good term for it. I do not believe in physical immortality, although advances in science have some hopeful that substantial life extension is right around the corner. I am not sure I would want to be in this body for 150 years lol.

I believe in the immortality of the soul. I do believe that as we grow spritually that we crave knowledge outside the box. I stopped seeking for books at mainstream bookstores ages ago. I want to read what the eccentrics say. I find that there is a lot of hidden treasures in avenues most consider taboo, such as the ideas presented by Kenneth Grant, a student of Crowley's, in his book "Nightside of Eden".

Grant explored the Qlippoth, or the flip side of the Kabbalah. It is quite intense and interesting as the purpose of this work is solely for the advancement of Self. It is a solitary path and each turn is different for every student.

Have you read his works?

I've read Magick In Theory And Practice, but it's been a long time and I don't remember any mention of vampirism. In what book or books does Crowley cover vampirism? BTW, thanks for posting the URL to Druidsfoot, Morrigu.

I don't believe there was any mention of Vampirism in Magick in Theory and Practice. A good starting point to for reference with Crowley and vampirism in in the Serpent's Kiss: http://www.solarphallic-cult.org/serpentskiss.htm.

You might want to check out his writings in De Arte Magica.

You might also want to do a bit of research on blood and sex magick used in ceremonial magick.
